Behind the Build: Brickvention 2020 LEGO Brick Timberwolf Battletech Mech

For his Brickvention model Darren went back to one of his favourite themes- Steampunk! For those who don't know, Steampunk is a kind of fantasy future based on steam-powered technology. The ship features a fully detailed retro-future interior as well as flapping wings and propellers!

Titled "The Sad Tale of Sir Warick the Overconfident", Mark's finished Brickvention LEGO® model is dominated by an enormous brick-built dragon blasting a single unfortunate knight, Sir Warick, on horseback with its fiery breath. Luke is our resident car enthusiast so there was never any doubt that he'd build a LEGO brick car for his Brickvention model. Building a simple straight model wasn't going to be enough, so Luke set himself the challenge of creating a bouncing Lowrider! When our workshop assistant Adam realised that he was going to get to build his first LEGO® brick model for Brickvention he was initially not sure what he could possibly build. But then he hit upon the idea of building a lifesize light-up keyboard🎹, and I think you'll agree he did an amazing job!

Our LEGO builder Tullett decided to challenge himself to replicate the popular Japanese "Lucky Cat" 🐱charm, including making the arm move, for Brickvention2020 this year. He even managed to make the entire model almost studless!

Behind the Build: Brickvention 2020 LEGO® brick Lucky Cat

Our resident motorcycle rider KC surprised us by NOT building a motorcycle for Brickvention 2020! He decided instead to create a "life-size" LEGO® version of his favourite Looney Tunes character, and fellow Tasmanian, Taz Devil. Not only that, he also decided to build the model as a self-portrait, including tonnes of custom details to represent himself. Altogether it took him 185 hours and 17,520 LEGO pieces to create.

For our last Brickvention 2020 Spotlight we're focusing on Stephan's enormous LEGO® Technic version of the St Louis Gateway Arch. Built at 1:100 scale it stands at 1.92m tall and features functioning trams that go up both sides of the Arch!
