Throwback Thursday: LEGO® brick Space Shuttle
The Space Shuttle is one of those iconic vehicles that captures the imagination and Ryan had always wanted to build one, but was at a bit of loss at first as to how best to do it. Ryan normally likes to build in “minifig-scale” so he can feature LEGO minifigures, but at that scale the […]
Throwback Thursday: LEGO® Brick Ferrari
This week we’re throwing back to probably Ryan’s coolest LEGO® models ever- his 1/4 scale 1961 Ferrari 250GT California! The car features in Ryan’s favourite ever movie, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and he’s wanted one ever since, but at over $10 million each, he figured building one out of LEGO® bricks will be the closest he’ll […]
Throwback Thursday: LEGO® Brick Brisbane Hospital
Here’s a Throwback Thursday especially for our Queensland fans! Back in 2011 Ryan was commissioned to build models of the planned new Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, later renamed to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital. At the time Brisbane had 2 aging Children’s Hospitals and both were to be closed and replaced by the new hospital, so […]
Throwback Thursday: LEGO® brick Hot Air Balloon
This week’s model, Ryan’s beautiful rainbow coloured hot-air balloon, is a bit different in that Ryan built it purely for himself and just for the challenge of it! Building a pattern into a complex compounding curving shape like a balloon in LEGO is about as hard as it gets. Ryan started by getting the shape […]
Throwback Thursday: LEGO® Elvis Firefighting Helicopter
This week’s Throwback Thursday is probably our most infamous model- The giant firefighting Erickson Skycrane named “Elvis”! Elvis is actually a Canadian skycrane that the Australian firefighting service borrows each summer to help contain and fight bushfires. It was Ryan’s twin boys who told him he had to build Elvis when they saw it flying […]
Throwback Thursday: LEGO® brick A380
This week’s Throwback Thursday takes us right back to 2009 and one of Ryan’s most important models- the A380 model which set Ryan on the path to become Australia’s first LEGO Certified Professional! Long before he became an LCP, Ryan was a long-time fan of both planes and the cutaway books, so when it came to […]
Saturn V Rocket makes the Guinness Book of Records!
Australia’s tallest LEGO model, Ryan’s massive 6 metre tall Saturn V Rocket and Launch tower, has just been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records- Blockbuster edition for 2017! We thought this was a great reason to look back at the Rocket model itself, which was built way back in 2012, and first displayed […]
Mount Panorama in LEGO Bricks
Over 47,000 bricks went into recreating the 2 sections of the iconic Mount Panorama Bathurst racing circuit, which is now on display in Bathurst Regional Gallery. We had heaps of fun recreating lots of moments from throughout the history of the mountain, from its history with the local Wiradjuri Aboriginal people, to famous race crashes […]
Wonders of the World Brisbane Open & Tour Announced!
It’s been an epic first week up in Brisbane for our new Wonders of the World exhibition! It was both exhilarating and slightly frightening to show all the models we’ve been working on for over a year to the public for the first time. But seeing the looks on the faces of the kids ( […]
Wonders of the World Launched!
I’m so excited to be able to finally share the news about the show we’ve been building towards for over a year! The world premiere of Wonders of the World will be in Brisbane from 23rd November. We will be there until the 14th Dec, after which we move onto our Australian tour heading to Sydney, […]
The Flying Scotsman in Lego Bricks!
Down here at the Brickman workshop we are running like an express train because we’re gearing up toward a massive new touring show! While the full details are still under wraps we thought we’d tease you all by showing one of the biggest new models we’ve built for the show- the first train in the world to break 100mph, The Flying Scotsman!
Brickvention 2016
Brickvention 2016!
I’d like to thank everyone who came along to Brickvention in Melbourne over the 16th and 17th of January and helped us build one of the worlds largest LEGO classic space sets at 64 times its normal size! Using over 550,000 bricks, we finished it with a few hours to spare at 3pm on Sunday.
